Jonathan A. Spann

            Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama (1999) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama, School of Law (2003).  He is member of the Alabama State Bar Association, Shelby County Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.  He has served the Shelby County Bar Association as Treasurer (2011), Vice President (2012), and as President (2013).  

 

            Jonathan’s legal experience includes extensive litigation in federal and state courts.  His experience includes civil litigation, domestic relations litigation, juvenile law litigation, criminal litigation, and estate and probate litigation.  Jonathan co-founded the firm Crowson, Morrison & Spann, LLC in 2007, becoming managing partner in 2014.  He is the firm’s civil ligation attorney, criminal defense litigation attorney, and he is one of the firm’s domestic relations and juvenile court litigation attorneys.  He has tried hundreds, if not more than a thousand, cases to completion in his legal career.  

 

            Jonathan has served as the Court’s Special Master in domestic relations cases.  He has also served as a mediator in civil and domestic relations cases.  He has been a special guest prosecutor in the Cities of Vincent, Calera, Wilton and Montevallo, Alabama.  Jonathan has litigated appellate cases before the Alabama Court of Appeals, Alabama Supreme Court and before the Eleventh Circuit of United States Court of Appeals.  He has also been very involved politically in Shelby County, where he served as Campaign Chairperson for The Committee to Elect Daniel A. Crowson, in both 2014 and 2020, and as Campaign Chairperson for The Committee to Elect Lara M. Alvis, 2016.​
